A Day in the Life
I have officially been in Barcelona for 7 weeks and finally feel like I have a good rhythm to life here. I am loving it! I have 6 roommates and we live in an apartment in the middle of the city and it is so fun. I love walking through the streets and just looking at all of the beautiful architecture. It brings the biggest smile to my face. The weather has been wonderful as well and I am so happy to avoid the Wisconsin winters. On a daily basis you will find me walking around in a light leather coat and I can say this is the best winter of my life.
I have been able to attend a flamenco show, multiple different city tours, spend hours at the beach, and visit the cities of Girona, Tarragona, and went hiking in Montserrat. There have been so many different pretty views and lots of delicious meals! One of my favorite things so far was being able to visit Park Güell and Bunker hill.
I am in awe of how gorgeous these locations are. I have a new appreciation for taking in different views as well. I feel like so often in my life I am rushing to finish something or move on to what is next, but Barcelona allowed me to stop and enjoy life for all that it is.
In addition to all the fun I have had in Barcelona I have been able to visit Paris, go skiing in Andorra, and see Madrid as well! I feel like every day is a new adventure and there is so much to do! The pace of life is much slower than I thought it would be as well, but it has been such a nice break from my normal. I would describe Barcelona as such a happy place and I love every day I get to spend here.
There are never ending opportunities for things to do and I feel beyond blessed to be alive and experiencing a new culture and way of life each day. The beach will most likely always be my favorite place. I try to visit 2x a week minimum and just take in the views. There are always people playing different instruments, surfing, pick up volleyball games to join in on and wonderful weather. One thing I do miss from home is some of the friendly faces I am surrounded by.
It has made me appreciate my friends and family on a new level and I can’t wait to reconnect with them. Thank you so much for taking the time to read a little bit more about my past few weeks! Enjoy a few pictures as well!

Program: Spain, Barcelona / CIEE Barcelona Business and Culture
I chose to study in Barcelona Spain because I have the desire to become fluent in Spanish. Although I have never been out of the country, the culture is incredibly exciting to me, and I am ready to fully immerse myself in every aspect of it. I plan to participate in the many volunteer and experiential learning opportunities offered in my program and can’t wait for this brand-new adventure.
